Discrimination can be of various kinds and in many different situations. Patronizing a fellow team member, because they have a different background and might not be up to the challenge can be discrimination. In a student team, all members have the same right to participate and should be included equally. You should not be biased against people who you are less familiar to you.
If you feel left out of your group or team, talk to the other members, most of the time the behavior is not intentional and can be resolved when pointing it out. If this does not solve the problem, contact the project advisor or team coach and try to find a solution together.
