As an international student, while I was aware of some of the different styles of teachings, I was still not used to them when I first began my studies here. I expected the lecturer to provide the answers to the questions they posed and then try to understand the answers. And when that did not happen here in my early semesters, quite often than not, I ended up dropping the subject. The schooling-culture differences play a factor too since there are cultures where asking questions or approaching the lecturers beyond class hours is limited only to the "less smart" students while the "intelligent" students usually understand anything and everything at one go. It is only after a consultation with the lecturer that the student realizes that their thought process was wrong all along - in other words - it is encouraged in this style to engage in the lecture by asking questions in order to understand the concepts better which will inevitably lead to better performance. The key word of the comic to me is in panel 11 - Slowly. Yes, it will take time and do not expect it to happen overnight or in a couple of lectures but allow yourself the time to get adjusted to the new style.
