Because of personal difference in interpretation people can perceive different things from the same dialogue, so it’s important to ignore the tone in which it is said and concentrate on the thing/information that was said. Not everyone has expertise on everything and there are SME? in departments, so if someone said that contact the other person it will only be for better and not worse.
It is important to understand the context of the conversation and often ignore the tone used. It can be misinterpreted. Coming from an Asian sub-continent country, a direct (to the point) answer has always been interpreted as rude. realisation with time has made it clear that , a person usually offers to speak to the point and does not want to be interpreted as rude.
